Acting Classes - Spring 2009


Bard Academy

CSC's Bard Academy provides for adult learners of all ages classes on acting, Shakespeare, and literature, taught by members of the CSC Resident Ensemble. Held in three 5-week sessions during the season, Bard Academy offers two classes in different time slots during each session. Sample subjects as you choose or challenge yourself to build your knowledge all year long. Complete 3 courses in one year and become a Bard Academy Scholar. All Scholars receive a certificate of completion, 10% off all Bard Academy courses in the future, and a complimentary Preview Subscription to CSC!

Young Adult Acting Ensembles
Groundlings Jr.
Sundays - 6-8pm
Ages: 7th - 9th Graders
Fee: $275
Instructor: Sara Clark
A program for 7th-9th grade students who are interested in furthering their acting skills and understanding of Shakespeare.  The emphasis of the program will be on learning basic acting skills, working together as an ensemble, and speaking Shakespeare’s text.  Workshops on movement, voice, text analysis, character development, and Shakespearean performance will take place throughout the program.  By working together through theatre games and scene work, actors in the program will experience the excitement of the artistic process.  All actors will participate in a showcase of Shakespearean scenes at the end of the session for their family and friends.

Groundlings

CSC Groundlings present their final performances:
           Julius Caesar: Sunday, April 19 and Tuesday, April 21 at 7:30 pm
           Much Ado About Nothing: Monday, April 20 and Wednesday, April 22 at 7:30 pm
All tickets just $10!

The Groundlings program was developed to provide 10th- to 12th-grade students with the opportunity to learn performance techniques from professional actors and study Shakespeare and his texts. This 20-week acting-intensive program includes theater workshops, text analysis, and training in both voice and movement. The students are mentored by one of our professional ensemble actors: Jeremy Dubin or Justin McCombs.
