Groundlings
What is it?
The Groundlings program was developed to provide 10th- to 12th-grade students with the opportunity to learn performance techniques from professional actors while studying Shakespeare and his texts. This 20-week acting-intensive program includes acting method training, text analysis, and instruction in voice and movement. The students are mentored by Artistic Associate and Resident Ensemble Member Jeremy Dubin, and Resident Ensemble Member Sara Clark.
Thanks to the many enthusiastic participants in Groundlings over the years, the program is expanding! For 2009-2010, enrollment has been increased. In order to accommodate the larger class, instruction for Fall 2009 will take place at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center, located at 3711 Clifton Ave. The building is a beautiful historic landmark located in the Clifton Gaslight district, with ample parking and a secure entrance. Instruction for Spring 2010 will utilize both the rehearsal space at CSC’s theatre on Race Street, and the Clifton Cultural Arts Center, as the group prepares for a final performance at the conclusion of the class in March.
