Shakespeare Summer Camp is a one-week theater day camp for middle school and high school students who want to learn more about the art of theatre. Campers work with members of the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company Acting Ensemble, learning acting, stage combat, movement, and text analysis for the actor. This exciting camp has grown into a three-tiered program for students of all levels of experience. Hosted by XavierUniversity in the GallagherStudentCenter, Shakespeare Summer Camp is an adventure you don't want to miss!

Camp I: Generation Shakespeare
Dates: 2012 Dates TBA Generation Shakespeareincludes beginner's classes in acting, combat, set and costume construction, text analysis, and movement. The students will work together as an ensemble to create an original production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Open to students who have completed 6th or 7th grade. Recommended for first-time campers, 6th & 7th graders and is open to all. Camp Tuition: $250 Camp II: Random Acts of Shakespeare Dates: 2012 Dates TBA Random Acts of Shakespeareallows students to experience in-depth study of scenes from Shakespeare's comedies. Intermediate study of Shakespearean text, acting methods, and stage combat are explored, as well as introduction to speak skills like makeup and improvisation. Students must audition for role assignment in May. See details at the top of this page.
Open to students who have completed 7th - 9th grade, or who have completed one semester or more of Groundlings Jr.
Camp Tuition: $260
Camp III: The Shakespeare Intensive
Dates: 2012 Dates TBA In The Shakespeare Intensive, campers will stage iconic scenes from the Bard's romances, tragedies, and comedies. Advanced study of Shakespearean text and acting will be emphasized, with special workshops in acting techniques like Viewpoints and mask work. Must commit to memorizing roles in advance and audition for role assignment on May 14. See audition details at the top of this page. Open to students who have completed 10th-12th grade, or who have completed one year or more of Groundlings.
Camp Tuition: $270 Tuition includes a t-shirt, daily snacks, and Friday pizza party for every camper.
Auditions for Camp II and Camp III Date: 2011 Auditions have been completed. Campers attending Camps II and III are required to audition prior to the beginning of camp. The audition is not for admittance into the program; all campers are admitted. The audition is so the camp director may assign roles in advance. After registration forms have been received, you will be contacted about the dates of the auditions. You will be contacted to schedule a five-minute audition slot when your registration forms are received.
For the audition, campers should prepare a 1-minute memorized (preferred but not required) Shakespearean monologue.
Sibling discount
A discount is offered for siblings attending Shakespeare Summer Camp. The discount policy is as follows: when one sibling registers at full price, a second sibling may register at a 15% discount. The discount applies to the lesser of the two camp tuitions, if applicable. Savings range from $27.50 to $40.50, depnding on the camps chosen.
Campers need not attend the same session to receive the sibling discount. We accept Visa®, MasterCard®, and American Express®. Please make checks payable to Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. Please note Campers must pack their own lunch each day.A daily snack is provided, as well as a pizza dinner on Friday before the final performance.
Location and Times Camp takes place at the Gallagher Student Center Theater at Xavier University. Camp is daily Mon-Fri from 9am-5pm. Performance for family & friends is 7pm on Friday of each camp week.
