Konstantin is just your typical struggling writer in 19th century Russia: temperamental, broke, and obsessed with a beautiful young actress just out of his grasp. He is also greatly troubled by his codependent relationship with his mother, who is obsessed with her own fame and vanishing youth. Will Konstantin triumph over his seemingly doomed existence, or will he succumb to its gloomy hold? The Seagull, Chekhov’s timeless tragicomedy, is at turns absurd and elevating, with a resounding ending that is not to be missed.
